Manuela Pausan is a microbiome scientist exploring the interplay between the gut microbiome and herbal medicine to understand what makes a product to be microbiome-friendly. She is strongly interested in how the microbiome power can be harvested to improve health and prevent diseases, and which natural products can nourish the microbiome and keep it thriving. During her Ph.D. studies at the Medical University of Graz, she was involved in several microbiome-related projects focusing on the human archaeome and the importance of microbiome during pregnancy. She was awarded the L'Oréal Austria Fellowships for Women in Science in 2018. When she's not working on microbiome topics, she enjoys exploring nature and using her 'lab' skills to make soaps.
